Just as summer starts to wind down in Lake Tahoe, events season kicks into high gear! From beer, food and wine festivals, to some of the most intense athletic competitions of the year, there are some truly spectacular events taking place in the next couple months. Mark your calendars, here are the Top 11 Fall Events in North Lake Tahoe!
26th Annual Foam Fest
Where: Squaw Valley
When: September 5th
Head to Squaw Valley for one of the most anticipated beer and music festivals of the year. This year’s music lineup includes the Dead Winter Carpenters and Zebuel’s Smoked Out Soul. Enjoy unlimited beer tastings from more than 40 breweries with the purchase of a beer tasting ticket. All proceeds from the event will support Disabled Sports to continue to provide sports rehabilitation to anyone with a disability. More Information
27th Annual Alpen Wine Fest
Where: Squaw Valley
When: September 6th
The 27th Annual Alpen Wine Fest includes wine tasting, live music, a silent auction and raffle. The entry fee for the event goes directly to Can Do MS, a foundation providing wellness and education for people with Multiple Sclerosis. Attendees receive a crystal souvenir wine glass and tastings from over 40 vineyards. More Information
Guitar Strings vs. Chicken Wings
Where: Squaw Valley
When: September 11th
Head to Squaw Valley for a night of epic chicken wing proportions! Bands and restaurants will square off against each other in an effort to raise funds and awareness for the Tahoe Institue for Natural Sciences. Attendees will receive tokens at the entrance, allowing them to place votes for their favorite band, and favorite wing-band pairing. More Information

When: September 11th – 13th

Where: Begins at Squaw Valley
When: September 12th

Tahoe Fall Classic Standup Paddleboard Race
Where: El Dorado Beach, South Lake Tahoe
When: September 13th
The Tahoe Fall Classic is a 22-mile paddling race consisting of over 150 men and women paddlers from all over the world. The cross-lake race begins at 8am from El Dorado Beach in South Lake Tahoe. Competitors will paddle 22 miles across Lake Tahoe to the finish at Kings Beach State Park. More Information
IRONMAN Lake Tahoe
Where: Race begins at Kings Beach State Recreation Area
When: September 20th
With nearly 6,000 feet of climbing on the bike course, added to the challenge of a 2.4-mile swim and a full marathon, IRONMAN Lake Tahoe is arguably the world’s toughest course. With athletes competing from all over the world, this will be an amazing race to watch. More Information
Squaw Valley Oktoberfest

When: September 26th
Celebrate Oktoberfest at Squaw with traditional Bavarian music and folk dancers, beer garden, brats & kraut, and games. All proceeds go to the Tahoe Truckee Lacrosse Association. More information
Tahoe City Oktoberfest
Where: Gatekeeper’s Museum, Tahoe City
When: October 3rd
Dig out your lederhosen and get ready for Tahoe City’s festive Oktoberfest celebration. Enjoy live music, cold beer barbeque sausages and fun games and crafts for kids of all ages. More Information
Reebok Spartan Race World Championship
Where: Squaw Valley
When: October 3rd
For the first time in Spartan history, the Reebok Spartan Race World Championship will take place in Squaw Valley. The world’s best athletes will collide on the course with a shared goal: to be the Spartan Race World Champion. The most anticipated obstacle racing weekend of the year will feature three Spartan Race distances to choose from over two days of racing. More Information
