It’s Climbing Season! Check Out Alpenglow Expeditions Tahoe Via Ferrata Tours
What is the Tahoe Via Ferrata?
First things first, a Via Ferrata is a route on a mountain face equipped with steel cables, ladders, and other fixed anchors. Most importantly, these steel attachments into the cliff face make it possible for climbers to make their way across, up, and down cliff faces. In other words, it would be nearly impossible to climb without the assistance of these attachments. The Tahoe Via Ferrata is located on Tram Face at Squaw Valley and is an amazing opportunity to climb this iconic rock face safely, with all ability levels!
2-Hour Tour: 400’ of Climbing Tahoe Via Ferrata
The 2-hour tour, for example, is a great way to get started with Tahoe Via Ferrata without committing to a full-day Tahoe adventure (perfect for those who are not sure about heights or have young kids in the group.) We’ll scale Flamingo Buttress, wiggle through the Alpenglow Alley squeeze chimney, and boogie down the Great Escape. Private 2-hour tour available.
3-Hour Tour: 500′ of Climbing Tahoe Via Ferrata
In a 3-hour tour, you will likely climb our newest Tahoe Via Ferrata route, The Loophole. Firstly, we will climb the Sundial Arete route up. Secondly, we will go around and down the Bonsai Tower to finally reach the pinnacle of Olympic Valley Overlook – one of the best views in town! Private 3-hour tour available.
4-Hour Tour: 800′ of Climbing Tahoe Via Ferrata
In our longest Tahoe Via Ferrata tour, 4-hours, you will likely have enough time to scale the entire Tram Face and walk off the other side of the mountain via a hiking trail. To reach Tram Tower 1, we will either climb the Sundial Arete or Skyline Traverse. Private 4-hour tour available.
