Alpine Meadows Bridge Replacement Update 04/13/2015
The Alpine Meadows bridge replacement project is underway and will take place between 04/06/2015 and the fall of 2015. During this time period expect traffic delays and noise from road construction.
Starting in April 2015 the Alpine Meadows Bridge will be replaced with a new state of the art 3 lane bridge. It will also have pedestrian walkways on both sides. The current Alpine Meadows Bridge is functionally obsolete and structurally deficient so the project was approved for funding by the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Association. This is great news as Placer County will not be burdened by the $8M price tag for the bridge project. This will allow Placer County to focus on other much-needed transportation projects.
Project Timeline
The Alpine Meadows Bridge project is set to start in April 6, 2015, and be completed by September of 2015 which is an ambitious time frame, to say the least. The first month of construction will focus on installing a temporary bridge to the north side of the current structure. This will cut through the current parking lot of the Casa Andina building where the Crest Cafe, Tahoe Mill, and a real estate office reside. The summer of 2015 will be a bit of a headache for residents of Alpine Meadows as traffic will be diverted during construction which will inevitably cause some headaches. In the end, Alpine Meadows will have a much safer bridge which will be able to handle future traffic needs of the neighborhood.
